The primary goal of the Douglas Foundation is to help to those that can’t help themselves. Given the Foundation’s background, we feel there is no group more deserving of our help than members of the entertainment industry. The Foundation provides substantial support to the Motion Picture and Television Fund, the industry’s health care provider of choice, as well as its leading provider of retirement facilities.

The Foundation’s support of the Fund began with the creation of "Harry's Haven,” a specialized unit of the Fund’s retirement center devoted to the care and well-being of entertainment industry patients with dementia caused by Alzheimer’s and other conditions. It was named in memory of Kirk Douglas’s father Harry Deminsky. Since that time the Douglas Foundation has donated an additional $20M to help the Fund address the needs of those who comprise the backbone of the motion picture and television industry.
